troubled lens

You might have to look twice before you see what this is. We had the Serve PBL (prevention of blindness) team here and last week one of my colleagues, an Afghan doctor qualified for eye surgery, performed operations in the local clinic here. We have mobile equipment that allows for surgeries like the removal of the lens from someone's eye if it is troubled (literally) by cataract. A new, artificial lens will then be inserted, often allowing people to see well again. I took this picture during surgical procedure, just as the surgeon popped out the affected lens from the eye of an elderly woman.
If anyone's interested I might post a picture of the insertion of the new lens as tomorrow.
I left the file a bit larger so it allows for zooming in (if you like to have a better view!)
