tools of the tradePosted by Sojourner (Aqcha, Afghanistan) on 22 June 2007 in Cityscape & Urban. A blacksmith and his helper in their shop. He produces mainly shovel blades and pick axe heads; the primary tools for working the soil. I have seen skilled men with locally produced shovels dig perfectly circular holes (up to 30 meters) in the ground and dig out kilometers of sediment from their irrigation canals.
