Octopus

We're back from our break in Thailand and Malaysia and I'm greeting you with the main ingredient for a good stir-fry or curry! It was a great time with beach, snorkeling and diving. Our middle daughter of 7 just wanted to stay on the beach and stay and stay.. To be honest, we struggled through knowing we would go back to Afghanistan; we often feel like strangers and it's not easy to connect. The apparently deteriorating security situation does not help (the Korean hostage situation is ongoing as I write and we just heard that a German lady from a partner organization was kidnapped by gunmen from a restaurant in front of her husband this afternoon. Very difficult stuff. We hope that we will be given an opportunity to keep on assisting for a while longer to help in the development effort of the rural communities here and represent some hope for better days to come.
