Turkmen Girl

Posted by Sojourner (Aqcha, Afghanistan) on 26 November 2007 in People & Portrait.

It's no that often that I get a chance to take a photo of a girl (let alone women) as they are often very shy and because it would be culturally inappropriate to picture women. This village (where we are building an underground water storage) seems a particularly good humoured community where the men like to joke, laugh and work hard. The children enjoyed having their picture taken and had fun checking the results on the tiny monitor of my camera - refreshing!
