Sorry, I've been out of it for a while and need to take some more pictures. Here's one a couple of weeks old. These men are brothers. I asked the older one if he had any children. He said he did, one of his two sons died and the son still alive is "gone mad" and wanders the desert. In spite of his troubles, the old man was actually quite cheerful and humorous.

@Dimitrios: Thanks Dimitrios, I often stand amazed at the resilience of people here and it's a privilege to meet them. At the same time it is not easy to connect and I hope that serving these people will actually produce a spark of hope in their hearts - they're not forgotten.
nice portrait

Emphatic faces shot straight on portray honesty in your work. Very nice.

Hi J, we met several times in Mazar and elsewhere. Deb S put me on to this photoblog of yours - very nice. I enjoy the shots. We should get together and stage an exhibition one time. Phil.

They both look worn down by a hard life. Thank you for showing us this piece of culture.
