Northern Afghanistan struggles through an exceptionally hard winter and we are trying to help some of the most vulnerable villagers in our area through the distribution of warm clothing. It was hard to choose pictures that communicate enough of what's going on, but when I saw this man's hands I knew they would say it all.

You are so right. Hands often tell more things than any thing else. They look as if they have done so much, but now they are so old so vulnerable and in need of help. I don't know if you made it in purpose but they are joined together like if he was praying or asking help

@Laurent: Thanks very much Laurent for commenting on this photo - it's dear to me because of how we felt when we visited the village. I hesitated to ask the man if he would hold out his hands. He was a little shy, but all the onlookers, visitors and villagers, could see part of their story in those hands.
